The growing popularity of Google products in education has forced an increased need for local “Google Experts” who can support and train educators and students in their use of Google Apps, Chromebooks, and other useful Google tools. The Google Certification Academy developed by John Sowash and Sowash Ventures is designed to help dedicated educators become “Google Education Trainers (GET),” an endorsement awarded directly by Google through their education division.

The two day Google Certification Academy features 12 hours of face-to-face  instruction from the GCA instructional staff, as well as access to the Google Certification Academy support network. The training topics and activities are designed to help participants successfully pass all 5 required exams needed to become a Google Certified Trainer. Participants are also coached on developing the required case-study and application videos to complete their application to become a GET.

Over 400 educators have completed the Google Certification academy and are now serving as local Google experts at the schools and districts.  The Google Certification Academy will expand to states around the country in 2015. An online version of the GCA is also expected to launch in early 2015.
